Kendriya Vidyalaya, Naval Station, Karanja is one of the premier institutions located in the suburbs (NAD, Uran Taluk) of the metropolitan city Mumbai, the capital of Maharastra. Initially it was an English medium school, run by Naval Aramament Depot (NAD) under the Chairmanship of the-then NASO Shri N A Malwade.The school's inception as Kendriya Vidyalaya took place on the 1st of July 1970.The first Principal was Sri.M.L.Arora and the first Chairman Vice Admiral M P Avati.
The vidyalaya was developed to this level in two phases:

1. With front block in 1984
2. With rear block in 1989.
      
The Vidyalaya is located in NAD, Uran Taluk, Raigad Distsrict, Mahastra State. It is a Defece Sector School with +2 (Science Stream & Commerce Stream). It runs in a H-type building having around 1600 students and 67 well qualified staff members under the able guidance of Commodore A.K. BAHL, Senior Officer, Naval Station, Karanja as its Chairman & Mrs. Pushpa CM. Joshi as its Principal. It offers qualitative and quantitative education for the students of Naval Station, Karanja and its neighbouring areas like Uran, JNPT, ONGC, SHEVA. It fulfills the thirst of knowledge of students with the streams - Science & Commerce at +2 level with the latest subjects like Computer Science/Informatics Practices along with the other compulsory subjects as prescribed by the C.B.S.E.
